We know of no other edition of Mozart's exquisite Ave verum Corpus that is more accurate and complete than this new historical edition. Faithful to Mozart's original manuscript in the Austrian National Library, this edition is also filled with period illustrations and detailed notes that will help singers gain a better understanding and greater appreciation of this minature masterpiece. Rossini "Prayer" from Moses in Egypt -- an audience favorite
In the 19th century, few pieces rivaled the choral Prayer from Rossini's opera/oratorio Mose in Egitto in popularity. Hailed as "stunning," "powerful," and "haunting," the Prayer was greeted with tumultuous applause at its premiere in 1820 and quickly appeared in many versions, including vocal quartet, marching band, violin solo, piano, etc. Over performed, the piece vanished into obscurity in the 20th century. We are excited to re-introduce the beautiful Prayer in a new edition that incorporates Rossini's original version in Italian, his revised French version, and an English version, all in a single publication. Rarely do choirs have the opportunity to sing sacred music originally written in Italian, not Latin. Here's your chance! We guarantee your congregation or audience will thank you. Not at all difficult.
